FHIR Questionnaire

A standardized, payer-specific data structure that defines exactly what clinical documentation is required to support a given prior authorization request, replacing inconsistent PDF forms and payer-specific portals.

What it means

Before FHIR Questionnaires, providers had to figure out documentation requirements payer by payer, often through trial and error or by digging through PDF forms buried in provider portals. A FHIR Questionnaire makes those requirements machine-readable, so a system can automatically determine what's needed and populate it from existing clinical data instead of a person manually hunting it down. This is the layer Ethermed's MATCH step operates on.
